Increase your Adsense income

So you want to increase your Adsense income? Log into your Adsense account, and look at your last month's stats. There are three key areas that contribute to your earnings: Impressions, Clickthroughs and Effective CPM. Improving your stats in any, or preferably, all of these three key areas will increase your Adsense earnings.

Impressions

Impressions are the number of times your webpages with Adsense ads have been viewed. You can increase Impressions by increasing traffic (preferably targeted traffic) to your webpages.

Some of the best ways to increase targeted traffic to your webpages include:

-create more webpages, with relevant, focused content -create more links to your webpages -list your website/s under relevant categories in more directories -set up a directory of relevant sites on your website and accept relevant reciprocal links -write relevant articles, with your site information in the 'resource box' at the end of each article, and submit them to article directories

Clickthroughs

Clickthroughs are the percentage of viewers who click on your Adsense ads. You can increase Clickthroughs by increasing the relevance of Adsense ads on your site, and by tweaking the format and placing of your ads.

Although you can't dictat which Adsense ads show on your site, you can influence the relevance of the ads by maintaining a tighrly focused website. If every page on your site focuses tightly on the site topic, its more likely that the Adsense ads will too. For example, if every page of your site is about fishing, and the word 'fishing' appears several times on every page, its likely that your Adsense ads will relate to fishing.

The best way to tweak your ad format and placement is to invest in an Adsense Tracker, and test, test, test! People who have done this tend to suggest that the best format is the large rectangle, with background and border the same color as the page behind it, so that the ad blends into the page. The best placement is towards the center or top left of the first screen of the page. Try these suggestions first, and then track and test, to be sure of what works best for your pages.

Effective CPM

Effective CPM is a measure of your average earnings, per thousand clicks. You can increase your Effective CPM by selecting topics that attract high bids from Adsense advertisers, and building pages and whole websites on higher paying topics.

Although Google doesn't release information on Adsense bids, you can get a good idea of the top paying topics by looking at information on Adwords bids, or, for that matter, bids on pay-per-click search engines like Overture. There are a number of keyword research tools available, both free and paid, that can help you find high paying topics.

The Formula

So now you have the basics of increasing your Adsense income. Its a deceptively simple formula:
-Build pages and websites on high paying topics for the best Effective CPM. -Format and place your Adsense ads for maximum Clickthroughs. -Promote your sites to drive targeted traffic to your Adsense webpages for maximum impressions.

The Basics of Google Adsense

Google Adsense is a unique program that can produce a lot of revenues over time if you are patient. Here is an overview of the basics of Google Adsense.

Google Adsense is a unique program that can produce a lot of revenues over time if you are patient. Here is an overview of the basics of Google Adsense.

To understand the basics of Google Adsense, you first have to understand Google Adwords. Adwords is a program where people can bid per click to buy space on platforms Google supports with advertisements. This includes the ads you see on the top and down the right column of results when you search on Google.

Adsense is the result of a crafty little idea wherein Google essentially wanted to maximize distribution of Adwords. With Adsense, Google took the unique approach of letting independent sites place certain types of Adwords advertisements on their pages. This type of advertising is known within the Adwords platform as contextual advertising and advertisers can opt out of it. Most do not.

The beauty of Google Adsense is it creates additional revenue sources for sites. For instance, lets assume someone bids 60 cents in Adwords for the placement of their ads. A site then shows those ads through the Adsense program. When an ad is clicked by a person on that site, Google charges the advertiser and splits the money with the site in question. The exact amount of the split is not provided by Google, but is known to reflect the quality of traffic, click through rates and other aspects.

The Google Adsense program is incredibly simple to use. You sign up through Google and, once approved, are able to select the format of ads you want to list on the pages of your site. Google then immediately generates a java script, which you copy and paste into the html of your pages. You cannot change the code, but you can select any old location on your page you want.

Once you have inserted the code and republished your site, it is time to sit back and watch. Google provides stats within your account area. You can see basic click and revenue information as well as monthly totals. Once you reach a total of $100 in revenues, Google will kick out a check to you. The check is issued more or less at the end of the month following the one in which you hit the magic $100 amount.

Obviously, there is more to Google Adsense if you want to make a full business out of it, but this provides the basics of the game. You will be tempted to click the links on your page. Don’t! Google will ban you from the program.

WordPress Themes - Getting the Best Values

WordPress Templates provide a cost- effective way to design a more personalized and attractive weblog for this high demand sector of the web. Blogs offering the same webpages to hundreds of thousands of clients have been notoriously bland, if not unattra

Webpage Templates are increasingly popular in several types of websites. The hottest area of the web, weblogging, gets thousands of new writers, visitors, and designers everyday. Many of these bloggers have joined with one of the dominant forces in weblogging – WordPress.

Why WordPress? It’s simple to use, yet has a good range of features, and it’s fully supported not only by wordpress.org but by a large segment of the blogging community as well.

Blogging is concerned with many points-of-view; some bloggers make very personal expressions, other bloggers are commercially motivated, while others have a technical or philosophical viewpoint to share. As blogging has increased, it is natural to see that the demand for more unique blog appearances has grown. And, because most bloggers have little if any experience in website design, the demand for variety in an affordable theme has skyrocketed. Many bloggers are content to add text to a standard skin that is shared by the majority of new bloggers and the less esthetically bent bloggers. But after a time even these bloggers usually look to make their blog a more attractive experience for visitors.

I have studied what has been made available in WordPress Templates – both free and for sale. After a lot of looking I decided to present the highlights of my findings – Free vs Sold WordPress Themes.

In the category of Free WordPress Themes my favorite list has 960 WordPress Templates and is found at Emily Robbins' Blog. Emily has done a great job here. Her website has been around for a while so all of the 960 available themes are still being downloaded.

While I was searching for Free WordPress themes I found two other websites that offer some variety. WordPress itself offers 444 different blog templates at no charge at themes.wordpress.net. Good designs with an array of colors and features are available. “Green Earth” is my favorite, but they’ve had 352,130 downloads of their 638 various themes to date.

Another excellent website is AlexKing.org . This site published 135 free, new WordPress themes some time ago in a competition and they have proven to be very popular with numerous downloads for the blogging crowd. Prize winners are named in several categories, and all 135 blog templates may be downloaded there. My favorite in the competition is titled "Chocolate Candy".

As for finding a unique, or more exclusive, WP theme you will have to hire a designer or buy a template for a one time download (or at least for a limited number of downloads). For commercial blogging, or for anyone who wants a distinctive look, an exclusive skin may be the best solution. New designers or experienced designers with budget or schedule constraints can get one of these templates and be operational in a hurry. Three WordPress template sellers that have validated templates at a good price are www.TemplateMonster.com , www.HyperTemplates.com and www.Perfectory.com.

Weblogging will continue to grow, and many of today’s bloggers will eventually move up to websites for ecommerce, or marketing of their own local, small business.
